What is the difference between the Mumade nursing pillows and the existing maternity pillows?

Almost everything!

Maternity pads are bulky and soft, and they sag over time. Our breastfeeding pillows are not only U-shaped to fit the waist for an intuitive latching on, but they are also firm and do not deform over time.
Moreover, we have opted for a responsible and transparent approach: we use Oeko-tex certified fabrics, the covers are made in Portugal in a human-sized factory and our products are then assembled in France. Our products have been designed in partnership with a lactation consultant and then tested in an independent laboratory to guarantee their durability, resistance and safety. But above all, they are the only ones that you can really take with you everywhere because once stored, they take up very little space.

I'm thinking of breastfeeding, is a nursing pillow really necessary?

Yes, but not just any cushion.
